Our BreedingWe actually started planning for our breeding program long before we moved to our ranch in 2003. The first thing we had to do was to decide what our breeding philosophy was going to be. Were we going to concentrate on certain blood lines and breed exclusively within those lines or were we going to try to mix together various blood lines whose characteristic we liked. We decided on the latter and began by looking for foundation stock which already had the crossing of northern and southern blood lines. Our plan was to buy two (northern/southern cross) foundation mares and then to breed them to a variety of stallions with the temperament, conformation, and pedigree that we liked. Also important to us was to breed to older stallions who had proven their longevity. After spending two years visiting ranches in Washington State, California, Colorado, Idaho and Texas, we selected a three year old filly by the name of RSV Macademia from Shawna and Jorge Valenzuela in California in 1995, and a weanling filly by the name of RBV La Tizona from Mary Donald in Idaho in 1996. These two fillies exhibited different conformation as well as very different blood lines. It was our hope to capture some of their strong traits to pass on to their get and also their gets’ get.
While we have mixed their blood lines in one of our 12 breedings and produced an outstanding young filly, our last foal, we have not had the chance to cross any other of their get. With the changes in the economy and Becky’s health problems we have quit breeding, at least for now. Nonetheless, we have produced 12 babies, all of them special to us. RSV Macademia produced 5 foals with five different sires. Each foal is different but each one also carries the strong stamp of their dam. RBV La Tizona has produced four foals from four different stallions. Each of those foals are different but they also carry qualities of their dam. We also produced three other foals. Two were from the mare HDP Tara which we bought from Bob and Pat Noble in Texas. We bought HDP Tara primarily as a show mare and she did extremely well for us in the show ring with Becky riding her. However, she also has produced two nice foals for us. We also bought Lalique MSR as an older mare and have produced one outstanding filly from her. In addition to the two foundation mares we purchased in the mid 1990’s, we purchased two stallions at the time we set up our ranch in 2002. One was a proven stallion, JWF Aficion and the other was a stallion prospect WF Prodigio. JWF Aficion was a son of Juramento JNE out of a *JOR Linaje daughter named JWF Orquidia. JWF Aficion had proven himself in the national show ring before he came to us. He has produced three nice babies for us. Unfortunately, we lost JWF Aficion in 2007 due to a leg fracture. You can see a picture of him with Becky riding on our "About Us" page. Unfortunately, WF Prodigio did not develop to stallion quality but he has become a very nice gelding that is currently being ridden and shown for us by Kaitlin “Katie” Kaiser. If you are interested in the blood lines of our horses the information is available on this web site by going to our For Sale page and clicking on the pedigrees of the horses for sale. There you can find the blood line of most of our horses. In addition to *JOR Linaje and Juramento JNE mentioned above you will also find: *HNS Dominguito, *HNS Domingo, Pabellon Joven, *Pabellon, *Malaarbia, *Mantequillia, *Piloto, Antares, *Burlador, *Estrallita Del Sur, Sindical, Cortesano, *CMT Solido and *AV Oro Puro to name a few of the more famous horses in the pedigrees of our horses. As you can see we have mixed the blood lines of many well know Northern and Southern horses to produce our foals. If you would like to see the results of our breeding program first hand please either call or email us and arrange a time to visit our ranch and see our horses. We believe you will agree with us that they are beautiful!!
