Caballos De BBC, LLC is a Peruvian Paso Horse ranch located 20 miles west of downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The ranch is owned by Bill and Becky Chase, hence the name Caballos De BBC or “Horses of Bill and Becky Chase”. Since Bill retired as an employee of the City of Phoenix in 2002 he has been able to devote full time to the management of the ranch and our horses. Bill became involved with horses later in life, not starting riding until he was over 40 years old. Becky still works part time as an operating room nurse and until she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2008, she spent the balance of her time devoted to our horses and ranch. Now she splits her time among work, our horses and her breast cancer support and advocacy groups. Like Bill, she also became involved with horses later in life as a result of meeting Bill. Shortly after they met, Becky and Bill bought their first horse, a Peruvian Paso Part Blood. By the time they were married in 1991, they owned three horses, including a registered Peruvian Paso Gelding.

Initially, Becky and Bill were only interested in trail riding, but it was not long before they got bitten by the “show bug”. Once they started showing they began looking around for other Peruvian Paso horses and became interested in breeding and raising horses of their own. They started by buying a couple of weanling colts so that they could learn first hand what it takes to raise young horses. As their interest in breeding grew, they began looking for a young filly that they could use as their foundation breeding mare. They visited ranches in Washington State, Texas, Idaho, Colorado and California. They settled on a three year old filly by the name on RSV Macademia owned by Shawna and Jorge Valenzuela which they purchased in 1995. In 1996, they purchased a weanling filly by the name of RSV La Tizona from Mary Donald in Idaho to use as their other primary breeding mare. While both Bill and Becky were working full time they boarded their horses at Cottonwood Crossing Farms, in Laveen, Arizona, owned by Nevin and Jenice McQuarrie. Because they came to horses late in life they had much to learn. Most of what they learned about the care and management of horses they learned from the McQuarrie’s during the fourteen years they boarded horses there. They also pursued information from a variety of other sources including: magazines, books, clinics and also formal college classes through the Scottsdale Community College’s Equine Program. In addition to classes on horse behavior, anatomy and physiology they also attended riding classes through the Community College. But most of what they learned they learned from other horse owners that they met over the years.
